
Estela Vilela
Estela Vilela is a bookbinder, educator, and book artist with a degree in Psychology from PUC-SP and in Literature from USP-SP. Her experience in bookbinding includes studies at the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios de São Paulo, training courses at ABER - the Brazilian Association of Bookbinding and Restoration, as well as international courses. Her works have been exhibited at various forums and international exhibitions.
During her presidency at ABER (2013-2019), she promoted the culture of books by organizing the International Artistic Bookbinding Competition in São Paulo and the Casa do Papel at FLIP in Paraty for two consecutive years, among other initiatives. Her educational projects emphasize graphic experimentation, research, and the production of artist books. Currently, in addition to being a co-creator and instructor of the online course "Dobras de Si," she teaches in-person courses, provides consultancy at her studio in São Paulo, and collaborates with cultural institutions such as Sesc and Itaú Cultural.
