Monique Allain

Monique Allain (1958) is an artist, educator, and researcher born in São Paulo, who relocated to New York in 2018 and settled in North Salem, NY, in 2020. Before venturing into the arts, she worked as an environmental consultant for the "Terra Capital Fund," a pioneer in fundraising for biodiversity conservation projects. She co-founded the Cooperativa de Artistas Visuais do Brasil (2003-2006), aiming to expand the role of visual artists in cultural decision-making and art promotion.

At ABER – the Brazilian Association of Bookbinding and Restoration, she led the NÚCLEO DE ARTE, creating programs for the study and production of artist books (2013-2018). As a curator for exhibitions in Brazil, Paris, and the USA, Monique investigates individual and collective identity, exploring its relationship with space, time, and otherness. Her works propose immersive experiences of self-connection, environmental connection, and interpersonal dialogue.
